“Amazing Experience”

Two days kayaking in Lan Ha bay. Spectacular. Henry offered all the info and advice needed to plan the trip and make accommodations. They offer so many more options than what is listed on the website…kayak, bike, camp, bungalows; day trips or multi-day adventures. The equipment is decent. Kayaks are efficient and in good condition, but with finicky rudders and no spray skirt (although you might sweat to death with a closed deck, so I didn’t mind too much). Chinh is a fantastic guide who has spent a lifetime working the nooks and crannies of Lan Ha. The base camp bungalows are situated on a private island in the bay. Basic but quite comfortable and extremely quiet and private. This is not Outward Bound, Linbad, or Sobek…it’s VN. Don’t expect EPIRBS and extensive first aid kits or doting, fluent English speaking guides. DO expect guides with loads of local knowledge and a safety network of every family and fishing vessel in the area; a comfortable pace; a few mildly challenging open water crossings; wonderful fresh food. Bring an extra SD card, extra battery, and something waterproof for your camera. I came back with 1200 images from three days and I’m not usually that snap happy.

“Kayaking with great view, stopping over for lunch at a paradise”

We booked a kayaking full-day trip direct on their homepage and Mr Henry was very helpful on email before. The guys picked us up with their motorbikes at our hotel at 8 am. After a short introduction made by Mr Henry we got our equipment (water proved bag included). Well, during the morning session we still had to learn how kayaking actual works. Our guide was very calm with us and a good teacher in that moment. For lunch we stopped over at Nam Cat – a beach resort or call it paradise on earth… We stayed there for swimming, lunch and a short nap until we got back in our kayak to paddle the whole afternoon – and we improved our paddling quickly. Before we got picked up from a boot to return to Ben Beo/Cat Ba we had one more opportunity to swim what was really amazing. Finally got back by around 5pm. For a whole day 2 people pay 86 dollar and it’s a day full of good moments… “Blue Swimmer” even offers cheaper prices if you come with a bigger group (up to 8 people).

“Best Way–BY FAR–To Visit Halong Bay!”

After considering other ways to see and experience Halong Bay, we chose Blue Swimmer for a more intimate and customized experience. And boy were we glad. Instead of the huge, steamer style boats carrying lots of people and featuring 30 minutes of kayaking, we had a grand wooden boat all to ourselves–with a great guide, Thang, a solid captain and a very good cook. We could kayak all we wanted. And instead of the more crowded Halong Bay, we focused on Bai Tu Long.

From our first email, Mr Henry was terrific to deal with. We had a kind of complicated timeline, which he worked with–even arranging transport to Haiphong from the Hanoi airport, and having someone meet us at the hydrofoil dock with prepaid tickets.

Everything went smoothly from beginning to end. The kayaking was good. Everybody loved jumping off the top deck to swim. And the food was terrific–and plentiful.

The boat was very spacious, with two bedrooms for the four of us, each with its own bathroom including shower. There was also a living area for eating. But we spent most of our time in the four lounges on the main deck, watching the karst islands go by, looking at the floating villages, and enjoying the changing scenery.

We are experienced kayakers, so doing a fair amount of paddling was important to us. Especially on the second day, we got plenty. And the boats were in fine shape.

Most important, as we cruised by the other, crowded boats, we said to ourselves over and over: ” Sure glad we chose Blue Swimmer.”

“Relaxing, enjoyable, romantic!”

I don’t know where to start! This trip was truly memorable. Blue Swimmer from the first email were so helpful and efficient at organising our trip.

We met both Minh and Bing, tour guides that speak great English and are good fun to be around and will make your visit special and informative too. Bing was our tour guide on an overnight tour and he was faultless!

The boat we stayed on was basic but had everything you needed for a comfy stay. Kayaks were in good condition and Bing found secluded, quiet places to enjoy Lan Ha bay away from other tourists. We would never have found them on our own.

The sunset views are spectacular. The seafood was very tasty and cooked perfectly. There was so much food, you won’t go hungry and drinks on tap.

I recommend this tour, enjoy…..

“Must Do!”

When you go to Vietnam, you MUST go to the Cat Ba Islands, and when you got to the Cat Ba Islands you must use Blue Swimmer.

The islands and majestic waters of Cat Ba are a must when in Vietnam and you won’t meet another operator as professional and helpful as Blue Swimmer. Whatever your needs Blue Swimmers and Mr. Henry can help you set up multiple activities or itineraries, fit any dietary needs (gluten free, peanut allergy), and help make your trip extra special!

Go, use Blue Swimmer, and set back in soak in the views!

“Best part of Vietnam”

We booked a 3 day, 2 night tour through the Cat Ba Island area with Blue Swimmer Adventure and had a wonderful time!

Our first night on the fish farm was quite a memorable experience and something I would highly recommend to anyone in Vietnam. Our second night on a boat docked 50 meters from the fish farm was also nice but very similar to the night on the fish farm.

The islands were incredibly scenic and our guide was extremely nice! These were the best parts of the trip. Our trip included a lot of kayaking which we loved, but for those who aren’t as active, it might have been tough. We kayaked probably 3 hours or so on the first day. It was great!

In terms of value, it seemed as if the owner is making quite a profit. They were quite frugal with providing us with water and any type of beer, soft drink, or more water was extra cost. This was a bit unfortunate given how cheap everything in Vietnam is and that we paid about $275 per person for the 2 night experience. Although, the food was quite good and we were not hungry.

I would recommend this to friends, especially if the price reflected the prices of the goods we were consuming.

Thanks Thung for your time and good will as a guide.

“Great way to experience Halong Bay”

Blue Swimmer Adventure tours gave me and my friends a fantastic experience of 3 days on Halong Bay in an old Junk (boat). I really valued the experience of taking this time in such a beautiful place. The guide we had was a local fisherman who could speak reasonable english with a local Vietnamese crew with no or limited english. The guide really allowed our trip to be targeted to our needs and was really accommodating and answered all our questions. Our guide was really personable and generous with his time. We had opportunities to swim and kayak. we also had a day out on an island where we went for a short bike ride to a small village and climbed a steep hill. Make sure you have good hiking shoes for this walk and prepared for a hard walk. The food was simple but tasty and fresh. The only downside was the lower deck was very hot to sleep in even with a fan but our visit was at the start of Summer. The bathroom facilities were basic but we were prepared for this.
